Tufan DARBAZ Highlights
After completing his B.S. at Boğaziçi University Department of Business Administration in 1978, Tufan Darbaz earned is master’s degree in Strategy at Strathclyde University, Scotland.
Darbaz started his career as a budget and finance specialist in the Libyan sites of the Sezai Türkeş–Fevzi Akaya Construction Company. Then he joined Sabancı Group in 1983, also as a specialist. By the time he left in Sabancı 2001 he reached Group Chairman Responsible for Strategy and Business Development. He acted as a member of the board at many companies under Sabancı Group.
Having played a key role during his time at Sabancı Group, Darbaz was an important figure in 18 foreign partnerships made by the group and had an important contribution in it becoming a global company, through the vitalization of Kordsa’s projects in Argentina and Brazil, and with the partnership with Dupont in the field of polyester. In January 2003, he undertook CEO duties in the group.
In 2007, he left Doğan Şirketler Grubu Holding and worked as the member of the Board of Management at Esas Holding until 17 November 2009. He founded his own consulting company, BTD, in March 2009.
Tufan Darbaz has also worked as a member of the board at many group companies, such as Dışbank, Petrol Ofisi, Ray Sigorta, Çelik Halat, Ditaş and Milpa, among others. He is also the founder of the Corporate Management Association of Turkey and plays active role at the Society of Turkish Industrialists and Businessmen, the Society of Turkish Textile Industrialists, the Alumni Association of Boğaziçi University, the Boğaziçi and Robert College Association of Businessmen and Managers and many other non-governmental organizations.
Tufan Darbaz is married with a son who graduated from Galatasaray University School of Economics and who is currently studying PhD in Scotland.

Experience
- He started his professional life in 1978 at STFA construction company and worked in Libya and Saudi Arabia for 2.5 years.He joined the Sabancı Group AS a strategic planning analyst in Lassa, the tyre manufactoring company in 1983. He became the Assistant Director of the Planning and Investment Department of the Sabancı Holding in 1987. After serving between 1989-1993 as the assistant director of finance, he became the Director of Business Development & Corporate Planning Department in November 1993. He is promoted to the Executive Vice President of Sabancı Holding in 1997. While he was in charge of Strategy and Business Development, he also served as a, Vice President in Sakosa, President in Turk Nokta Net and as a Board Member in Marsa, Olmuksa Corrugated Company, Kordsa, Enerjisa, Ankara Enternasyonel Otelcilik A.S. and Dupont Brasil, Dupont Argentina, Dupont – SaSa joint ventures.
- In June 2001 he moved to Dogan Holding AS, which is a media and energy giant as Deputy CEO and had a chair as a board member in various Dogan Group of Companies including Petrol Ofisi.
- In January 2003 he has assigned as CEO for Dogan Group of companies.
- In January 2007 he has left Dogan Group to establish his own businesses.
- He served as a board member through March 2007 and November 2008 for Esas Holding a private eguity established by one of the SABANCI brothers.
